when you don't live where there is a large population of koreans..then you don't have much choice
many do here...
those who live in texas, oklahoma, arkansas, missouri, kansas...
drive down here just to shop!
unless they get it online...but with s&h fee to a place like oklahoma..i'm sure the price will even out.

the H-mart closest to my house have stores dedicated to selling cosmetics, clothes, videos, bidets, various rice cookers and humidifiers, health crap, sanrio/morning glory, and fast food, but no big appliances. i don't even think k-town plaza or the galleria sell these items either. it's pretty much just kim's that i've seen the kimchi fridge at. hm, i wonder why they don't sell more. i guess not enough people want to buy kimchi naengjangohs.
on a different note, i don't know how people outside of dallas can drive for hours just to buy korean groceries. i remember when i was in west tx and southern tx, it took nearly five hours just to buy some rice and geem. loved going to wet-n-wild though. i miss texas.

Hmm I'd have to say not worth it ground beef wise. I'm sure fresh ribeye ground the day you are going to cook it would be better and a lot cheaper. Just a suggestion.
Interesting observation. I went to Costco up north in Novato, CA. Rich white area. All the white people turn down samples. They put there hand up to stop the person from even offering it to them. Where as near my house all the Filipinos and Chinese create this crazy traffic jam of carts at the front of any isle hovering waiting for samples to be ready. It's just interesting how locales make such a difference in how people shop.

probably because you guys have other stores that sell it like kim's
we only have one or two area for korean things (old and new ktwon)..and that's where they have everything..
if you don't really have a choice but to drive far.. it's not really a problem since you are used to it. take a day trip with family or friends.. go to king sauna, have sushi, then go to hmart and stock up your truck, icebox, trailer, etc..hahah... it's actually fun. shoot! before hmart..when i was in high school..my friends and i would just drive up for a day to buy morning glory items, eat jjajangmyun, and hang out at noraebang and korean bakery cafes.. haha.. actually, if you live in such places..you have to drive far for everything (not just korean items) anyways.
or you can just shop at the nearest korean grocery store if you don't want to go to Dallas. it's like (gumong gageh..haha..) small like 7-11 convenience store size. of course, no variety, overpriced, and the ahjuma knows what and why you are buying items.. shoot! my dad has to go to both korean grocery shops in oklahoma because the owner gets mad if he goes to just one.. or one store doesn't carry everything so we have to look for it at the other store...
one time..this one owner knew we were having a family party since we bought a lot of food....they dropped by our house uninvited that evening! it's just the way of life when you live in such area. haha...
