There¡¯s Something About Social Networking

I am not fond of creating an account in any social networking sites until I discovered Twitter (and apparently, discovered blogging as well). It was just early last year, if I remember it right. Actually, I was just forced by my group of friends. So that means, it was purely peer pressure that brought me to Twitting.

Anyway, since then, I got hooked and found myself Twitting every time. I found it really cool. Anyway, here¡¯s the catch. One day, I was having a hard time with a school paper. I was like really having an odd and hard time doing it.

I Twitted something like, ¡°Almost insane. Having a hard time doing school paper.¡± Suddenly, someone commented on my page. There was a link on it. Curious as I am, I clicked it, and viola, it was a web page of a essay writing service company.

I felt like it was heaven-sent. I honestly have no idea who the person was. Whoever is he/she, thanks to him/her. If not for that paper writing company, I would have failed doing my assignment. Just to clear it up. I did not use that site or company to cheat. What I asked from them was just to edit my work since they offer editing services.

Anyway, going back to social networking sites, I am happy that I have discovered Twitter. I am happy with their services. I am contented with what it could give me. I must say, it was really helpful especially that it allow other people to help someone out as well.

Korean Film in Focus:

Luncheon Roundtable with Tribeca Film Festival 2010 Korean Directors

Critics in Korea have praised directors Park Chan-ok (Paju), Lee Yong-ju (Possessed), and Ounie Lecomte (Brand New Life) for films that venture into that rarely explored space between mainstream appeal and art-house rave. Now these up-and-coming directors are finding new, global audiences through screenings on the international circuit and at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. In celebration of this prestigious showcase of Korean film, we invite our members and film fans to meet the directors at a special roundtable discussion.
About the Speakers

Park Chan-ok won International Film Festival Rotterdam's 2003 Tiger Award and the Pusan Film Festival's New Current Award for her critically acclaimed debut Jealousy is My Middle Name. In 2010 her highly anticipated second feature, Paju, became the first-ever South Korean work selected as the opening film for International Film Festival Rotterdam. Park's work offers subtle but tense portraits of anti-heroes confronting society.

Lee Yong-ju made his directorial debut with the 2009 horror film Possessed, which employed familiar genre imagery in chilling new ways in order to explore fanatical religion and superstition. Lee honed his craft as an assistant director on Bong Joon-ho's Memories of Murder.

Ounie Lecomte debuted as a director with the 2009 film A Brand New Life, based on her experiences in a Korean orphanage in the mid-1970s. A Brand New Life received awards at the 2010 Tokyo, Palm Springs and Berlin International Film Festivals.

Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?"

She again replied, "Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him."

The defense attorney nearly died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said,

"If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair."

These hilarious exchanges are from a book called 'Disorder in the American Courts'. They were recorded verbatim and published by Court Reporters that had the torment of staying calm and remaining professional while these exchanges were actually taking place.

ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
WITNESS: I forget.
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?
WITNESS: How would I know?
___________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?
____________________________________
ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He's twenty -- much like your IQ.
__________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS: Are you ****tin' me?
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
WITNESS: Getting laid
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: She had three children, right?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.
ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS : Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
WITNESS: Take a guess.
__________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS: Unless the Circus was in town, I'm going with 'a male'.
_____________________________________
ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m..
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Are you qualified to ask that question?
______________________________________
And the best for last:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive - and practicing law.

 Okay so I was out of submissions lately but I am sure no one here give a hoot. Overally, I am basically topped with work. I rarely go online or even do my late night shifts. I have other jobs to keep me busy now.

It was very surprisingly indeed that I went to check out my brother's New Year Event, looks like some of the Igoons here will be taking part of it. Hooray! Of course I will list some of the things happening. But if I see you guys at Rodeo Drive on New Year's Eve, I would give you a hi yah!

Come out tomorrow, Thursday, December 17, 2009, to kollaBOWLation 2 held at Shatto Bowl on Vermont and 4th Street.

Come cheer on the APEX team!!!

The event will start at 8PM. Each team will play one game and the top two teams will play one more game for the championship. The bottom two teams can bowl another game if they would like. Please remember, the winning prize will be a picture of the winning team on each organizations website.

Competitors: APEX, FRA, Kollaboration, Ktown 213

For tomorrow, my friends from APEX is have Bowling night in Ktown. So if you are around and want to meet some cool ass people, search for them there. I think some of you Igoons are members or officers. If you are from APEX, salute to all of you!

And next is my brother's NYE party:

Event: Thursday December 31st: New Years Eve Celebration on Rodeo Drive
What: Holiday Party
Start Time: Thursday, December 31 at 9:00pm
End Time: Friday, January 1 at 2:00am
Where: McCormick & Schmick뭩 Beverly Hills - A Pacific Seafood Grill

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Okay, well, my brother is setting up a private party and will not be at Rodeo Drive. Other organizations and clubs will be there. But a quarter of my friends will be in Beverly Hills, and the others at Highland, Long Beach RedBull run with dirt biking/drifting cars, etc, and private parties in Pasadena. So I guess I have to split myself runing around to catch up for the New Year's Event. And or swing by Disneyland ^__^ (12/31/2009)

I have to run because our group is having a Christmas Dinner tomorrow in Alhambra. I have to jet out to buy some xmas wrapping paper to wrap up the door prizes. ^__^ And get some cans for the food drive in Arcadia for people bikers. Whoo yay!

I hope everyone had a fun time at these passed two weeks of LA car show. Nothing new except for the one that I find interesting is the New Lexus that is coming out. Other than that, others were from last year. It was kind of odd that the people this year was into turning the cars top and bottom so you can see the parts inside. Totally cool too.

I hope I get to see some of you fun Igoons out in LA. If not have a wonderful Christmas!

Life is hilarious... I mean..who knew I would meet a guy who would take me back to my home state??? I never thought a guy I meet in the city would suggest for us to move there of all states!! What's even more surprising..is that I'm not moving to my hometown in the city near my family and childhood friends....but I'm moving to a small country town! Hubby says I'm country for being from Oklahoma...hah...whatever... I'm really going to turn country now thanks to him! hah~ :p

Soon it'll be time to say goodbye to city life, to seeing Asians around town, to ethnic grocery stores and restaurants, to friends......

It's time for another change...new job, new home, new neighborhood..i guess i should say hello to the cows and horses. hmm..I should have taken the pic of that buffalo when I was there last week to visit our new place...sigh..... oh man...Here I go!

In a world where there is so much need...why am I here? Maybe God gave me a lot ... for me to do a lot of good? I have the power of extra! I have the opportunity to use this extra in behalf of those who do not...Prayers from desperate people can be answered through me... I am powerful!~

It's like a river that God flows into my life..a river of blessing..a river of resource....and I have a choice in what to do with this river. Do I build a dam up a river and make a lake called my lifestyle?or do I let it flow through..let these resources and blessings flow to those in need?

So I choose to try .. to Live more simply, to Give more generously. -2 Corinthians 8:13-15

Every time I give, every time I share...I gain the blessing of living real life..of doing tremendous good...Isn't this power of Giving amazing?

....

I'm not just talking about charity .....I'm talking about giving more effectively as well! Giving the less fortunate the opportunity to make a decent living instead of creating dependency!

The money we spend for the things we need and want can either help to build up or tear down the people who make them and the communities they live in. That's why I <3 Fair Trade! The concept of Fair Trade includes the ability for the producer of the product or service to earn a living wage in doing so. When you trace back the production process for many of the things we purchase, often this is not the case.

We all need to try to spend more conscientiously to buy more ethically. -Isaiah 58:3, 6, 7

I wish more would create demand for this..by spending more responsibly. whether we want to give or not...the choices we make with our everyday purchases......will change someone's life for better or for worse...so why not for better?

Let's do what upholds the biblical principles of economic justice..Let's make a difference by giving hope to the hopeless! Let's do good...

It's weird how bad luck comes all at once...then leaves ..then comes back again..then leaves...
Sometimes I wonder if my life would be easier if I changed my personality into a b_ _ _ _.
Oh well...I'll make lemonade with all these lemons around me. And if the lemonade is bad, I'll just throw it out and remake it. haha...

Wow, what can I say? Naysayers were saying crap about the Pacman when he fought De La Hoya, "Oh, he fought an old man!". Or Hatton, "Pac got lucky!" Seriously, wtf?! Sorry, but the dude got knocked the fuck out! And now, Pacman over Cotto. What?! What?! Pac held on his own. So much for the bigger, stronger Cotto... he didn't destroy the Pacman as was originally thought. Give props where it's due.

Things that make me happy: Cooking

J. says my voice and eyes lit up whenever it involves food. I dunno about that, but yeah I do get excited. That's probably one reason why they call me dwegi, ggool dwegi, ggool gggol. Someone said he wish food was in a pill. You just take it to survive. Is he nuts? To each his own. I'm definitely the type that survives to eat ..not eat to survive.

I'm not a great cook, but I just try. I don't have a specialty because I like to cook everything. If I don't know how to make a certain dish, then I'll just learn. That's probably why I'm such a recipe hog. Oh! My friend's mother makes her own dwenjang and gochujang, yet they don't have interest learning it. Gzzz....*raising my hand* I love homemade products. Man! I would love to borrow his mother for a day!

My mom doesn't cook and since I'm the oldest, I just ended up doing it. I remember setting up weekly menus and really wanting it to be a balanced meal. My siblings would share their opinions. Then I would either keep, throw, or improvise the recipe. Hmm..When I look back at that, I just want to cringe...but hey...I was just a kid learning on my own through experimenting and lots of mistakes. I'm just sorry that my siblings had to be the taste testers. haha.... It's a good thing mister eats everything I cook too. yay~

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I used to love to watch my grandmother make bread for the Sabbath. Elbow-deep in flour, she taught me kitchen psychology while braiding the dough. One morning, when I was five, she said, without lifting her eyes from the table, "People have energy which make their lives yeast. Their souls get sick if they don't let it out. It gets confused. It doesn't have a way of rising so it twists and strangles instead of becoming a new pattern." Her fingers tangled in the dough as she spoke and her beautiful bread became a mass of chaos. She struggled to free her hands. In the process, the shape of the bread was destroyed. "Then we have to go back to the beginning and start again with the kneading and the rising," she said as she began to punch the dough flat again.
-Dawna Markova in No Enemies Within

I was just thinking one morning during meditation how much alike hope and baking powder are: quietly getting what is best in me to rise, awakening the hint of eternity within. I always think of that when I eat biscuits now and wish that I could be more faithful to the hint of eternity, the baking powder in me.
-Macrina Wiederkehr in Seasons of Your Heart

The kitchen is a place that sharpens us. It's a place that wakes us up. Our sense of smell become keener. We taste with greater subtlety. We see with more clarity and our movements become quick and sure.
But there are times when we are not as sensitive, not as focused. We are distracted and nothing seems to go right. In the kitchen the results are easy to notice. The sauce burns, the bread doesn't rice, and dishes slip out of our hands.
Cooking requires that we are present. This is one of its greatest teachings.
It keeps bringing us back to what is happening in the moment and continually calls our attention to what we are doing.
We smell when the cake is ready to come out of the oven and we taste when the soup is almost done to perfection. When the water boils on the stove, we turn down the heat.
Through cooking we can become more responsive to what is happening around us. In the very same way that the Chinese cook was able to sharpen his knives just by using them, we can sharpen our lives by living them with awareness, moment by moment.

Things I love to do: Cleaning!

When we clean up after ourselves, whether it's a spilled jar, a broken chair, a disorganized study, or a death, we can see and reflect upon our own life and perhaps envision a new way that won't be so broken, so violent, so unconscious. By cleaning up our own homes we take responsibility for ourselves and for preserving what we love. But if our attitude is "my kingdom is not of this world," then there is a disturbing possibility that we'll finally do away with the world rather than clean it or ourselves.
-Brenda Peterson in Nature and Other Mothers

The simplest, most direct method of creating sacredness into everyday surroundings is cleaning. I know this activity is usually relegated to the realm of drudgery, but it can become a practical means of infusing consciousness into your surroundings. Sacredness is experienced in the equalities of purity, orderliness, balance, and renewal. All of these are achieved through cleaning. In the process, neglected objects and corners of our living environments receive love and attention. The glow of consciousness passes into everything making them shine. Without spending a penny on redesign, the room is transformed.
-Anthony Lawlor in The Temple in the House

When I was young, I was upset and decided to do something bad. So I threw the chewed gum on the sidewalk and walked off. Who was I kidding? I walked back and disposed it properly. Another time I was upset, I purposely made my room messy...by throwing my clothes "neatly" all over the room. Of course, after ten minutes I couldn't help myself picking it up. My parents never had to get onto me about cleaning my room....Instead I cleaned their room and told them to be a little more organized. (Hey Helra! Do you remember how people just knew which side of the dorm was mine....and you would tell your guests to sit on my side? lol....)

I admit I go overboard at times....like whenever I go into a friend's bathroom. If it's messy then I can't leave until I at least semi-clean it. Or whenever I stare at their plates (from the corner of my eyes so they won't notice..hehe...)..because I'm anxious to take it as soon as they are done eating so I can wash it. Or whenever I get my mail...I have to pick up the junk mail others left all over the mail area. (Why can't they just throw it in the trash can that's available right next to the mailboxes?) Or I straighten out the magazines at the mechanic shop. Or I can't just stand and watch my friend try to organize her place because she takes forever....so during the time she cleans one thing.....I end up cleaning her entire place! Or whenever I drop by my friend's place to pick her up....and I have to wait becasue she is not ready yet..and notice dirty dishes, then I'll start doing her dishes.

hmm...No wonder I can relate to tv characters like Alice the maid from the Brady Bunch, Rosie the robot maid from the Jetsons, or Monica on Friends...
Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to be like the character, Bree, on Desperate Housewives. Ah nevermind.....

I think 99% of the people I know..including mister..haha.. are on the messy side. I love organization!! Haven't you heard of .."a clean home is a happy home"???
